Structure

Once the Qualifying Period ends, a total of 576 racehorses will be entered into the Quarter Finals, 192 from each distance funnel.

Distance Funnels

The Class 1 Premier uses distance funnel as a fair way to categorise the top performing racehorses across all distances.
During the Qualifying Period, racehorses are ranked according to the distance funnel in which they compete: Sprinter, Midrunner or Marathoner. The distance funnels are defined as follows:
Distance Category
Distance Funnel
Sprinter
1000m, 1200m, 1400m
Midrunner
1600m, 1800m, 2000m
Marathoner
2200m, 2400m, 2600m

Qualifying Period Eligibility

To be eligible for qualification in the Class 1 Premier Quarter Finals, you must meet the following criteria:
  • A racehorse must run a minimum of 20 races in a specific distance funnel to be eligible for qualification
  • A racehorse can only qualify in one distance funnel
The top 192 horses with the most points in each distance funnel will qualify.
Only paid races in Class 1 will count towards qualifying for the Class 1 Premier.

Total Points

Qualifying rank is decided by total points. Points are calculated using the following formula:
Total Points = Placement Points x Buy-In Points
Placement Points are awarded as follows:

During the Qualifying Period, scoring is cumulative. However, each distance funnel has its own, separate cumulative points total, meaning your racehorse can only qualify in the funnel that it earns the most points in.

Tie Breakers

If racehorses are tied based on total points, the following tie breaker rules are applied in the following order:
  • Amount of wins during the Class 1 Premier qualifying period
  • Amount of races run during the Class 1 Premier qualifying period
  • Most class points
  • Amount of career podium placements

Leaderboards

The official leaderboard for the Class 1 Premier will be brought to you by the Know Your Horses team. This leaderboard will update live, so you can keep track of your racehorses’ positions during the Qualifying Period.

Seeding

For the Quarter Finals, racehorses are seeded based on the points they achieved during the Qualifying Period.
The top 192 racehorses in each distance funnel will be seeded and placed accordingly into the 16 different Quarter Finals races.

1st: 3 points 2nd: 2 points 3rd: 1 point
If there is a tie, the total prize money for placements will be split between the horses. For example, if three horses tie for first, the prize money for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd will be totalled up and then split equally three ways.
The Class 1 Premier concludes at the Finals stage, meaning each distance funnel will have its own tournament champion.
